"And now, because of my devotion to the Temple of my God, I am giving all own private treasures of gold and silver to help in the construction. This is in addition to the building materials I have already collected for His holy Temple." ‍
1 Chronicles 29:3
David sacrificed for something he would never experience. This is a concept that is not popular in a current culture.
Serve in the nursery, but you don’t have child.
Give to start or support Christian School, but don’t have a child.
Love through a prison ministry, but have never been or likely will be in prison.
This is what the body of Christ is called to do every day.
We don’t ever know who will come to Christ one day because of a sacrifice we make.
Devotion = sacrifice
I sacrifice for that which I am devoted to.
To what am I devoted?
The king sent him down to Gihon Spring with Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, protected by the king’s bodyguard. They had him ride on the king’s own mule.
1 Kings 1:44
I wonder why he wouldn’t be riding the king’s horse. Did David ride a mule?
Allow the Holy Spirit to help me evaluate where my devotion lies. Submit to His leading and sacrifice/serve/give where He leads.
