David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in all. He had reigned over Judah from Hebron for seven years and six months, and from Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel and Judah for thirty-three years.‍

2 Samuel 5:4-5

So there at Hebron, David made a covenant before the LORD with all the elders of Israel. And they anointed him king of Israel, just as the LORD had promised through Samuel.
1 Chronicles 11:3

• God brought David from Abdullam to Hebron. 
• The Hebron years covered age 30 to 37 in David’s life. 
• In Hebron, David was only king over one tribe– Judah. This was just one of the twelve tribes that God had promised. 
• The Jerusalem years covered age 37 to 70 in David’s life. 
• This season of David’s life will be full of testing by pressure related to walking in the fullness of the promises and blessings that he received. 
• This season brought David’s greatest blessings. 
• This season brought David’s most dangerous season, spiritually speaking. 
• David’s greatest failures will come in this season. 
• David removed his eyes from the truth. 
• David first saw himself as one who lived before God. 
• David’s first desire was to love and obey the LORD. 
• When David sees himself through the eyes of men, he falls. 
• There is a big lesson for us all in David’s Jerusalem years.

Constantly walk before the Lord in honesty and humility. Honor Him in all your ways.
