But as the Ark of the LORD entered the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, she was filled with contempt for him.‍
2 Samuel 6:16
Contempt
Bazah (baw-zaw') despise: raise the head loftily and disdainfully
Am I filled with contempt when I see others freely and unashamedly worshiping and living for God?
Not everyone will get our praise, because everyone doesn’t know our story.
Listen to this wonderful song:
"God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”Â
John 4:24 (ESV)Â
What does it mean to worship the Lord in Spirit and Truth?
"Worship is an inward feeling and outward action that reflects the worth of God." -John Piper
"The highest form of worship is the worship of unselfish Christian service." - Billy Graham
"True worship is when the spirit, the immortal and invisible part of man, speaks to and meets with God, who is immortal and invisible." - William Barclay
"I believe that in public worship we should do well to be bound by no human rules, and constrained by no stereotyped order." - Charles Spurgeon
"Where God is at the center of things, worship inevitably follows. Where there is no spirit of worship, there God has been dethroned and displaced." - Sinclair B. Ferguson
Because you Levites did not carry the Ark the first time, the anger of the LORD our God burst out against us. We failed to ask God how to move it properly.
1 Chronicles 15:13
What leadership! David shared the blame for the Ark debacle.
Worship with abandon because I have a lot to worship God for.
