And now the LORD your God has given the other tribes rest, as he promised them. So go back home to the land that Moses, the servant of the LORD, gave you as your possession on the east side of the Jordan River.‍
Joshua 22:4
It’s spiritual dangerous and spiritually irresponsible to separate ourselves from the brethren.
We weren’t meant to walk alone spiritually.
With the brethren, there is
- Spiritual pleasure: you are surround by others to share spiritual wins
- Spiritual protection: you are less vulnerable to the enemy attack, and have an army around you if an attack comes
- Spiritual provision: you are covered in time of need
- Special delight of the Presence of God
Scripture for staying connected with the brethren:
- And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Acts 2:42 (ESV)Â
- And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV)Â
- But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
1 John 1:7 (ESV)Â
‍ - Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.Â
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
I love that Joshua still esteems and reveres Moses.
"So be very careful to follow everything Moses wrote in the Book of Instruction. Do not deviate from it, turning either to the right or to the left."
Joshua 23:6
Don’t let anyone or anything separate me from the brethren.
