When he becomes aware of his sin, he must bring as his offering a male goat with no defects.‍
Leviticus 4:23
‍
Three times we see the phrase, “When they become…” and once “when you realize.”
Awareness of sin should result in confession of sin… no matter how long it has been since the sin occurred.
Permanent forgiveness for all sin, for all time and the penalty of sin were paid for by Christ.
If this is true, then why is confession necessary?
The pleasure of living in permanent forgiveness is interrupted because
Unconfessed sin takes away the pleasure of the permanent state of forgiveness of sin.
When we become aware of sin, confess it, so the pleasure of living in the state of permanent forgiveness isn’t interrupted.
Praise be to God for 1John 1:9:
All such grain offerings of a priest must be burned up entirely. None of it may be eaten.
Leviticus 6:23
I wonder why the grain offerings of the priest had to be burned up, rather than eaten.
