Scripture:

GENESIS 42:1-45:15

A Jesus Sighting

“I am Joseph!” he said to his brothers. “Is my father still alive?” But his brothers were speechless! They were stunned to realize that Joseph was standing there in front of them.

Genesis 45:3

Weeping with joy, he embraced Benjamin, and Benjamin did the same. Then Joseph kissed each of his brothers and wept over them, and after that they began talking freely with him.

Genesis 45:14-15

My Takeaways

Something Old

Joseph’s reconciliation with his brothers is a foreshadowing of our reconciliation with Christ.

Joseph waited until his brothers humbled themselves before he revealed himself to them.

He recognized just the right time to reveal himself and forgive.

  • A premature revelation the brothers may have expected the rewards of being brothers of the VP, without submission or respect.
  • A longer wait of revelation might have brought about brotherly resentment and more family drama.

Like Joseph’s brothers, we have no idea the blessings and favor that follow a humble, heartfelt admission of sin.

Like Joseph, Jesus brings us to the place of repentance at just the right time. Upon the acknowledgement of our sin, our relationship with Him is made new and we are reconciled with God.

Something New

Simeon was in prison for two years, just like Joseph. I wonder what he was thinking all that time.

Something to do

Express my gratitude for being reconciled to God through Jesus.
