And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.

1 John 5:11-12

God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
1 John 4:9-10

• Christology: the study of Jesus Christ.
• Christology answers the questions: “Who is Jesus?”, “Is Jesus man or God?”, and “What does Jesus do?”
• Christmas is a celebration of the Incarnation. 
• The word incarnation means “the act of being made flesh.”
• And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

• Before the world was formed, God the Father chose His Son to accomplish His plan of redemption and save His creation from sin. 
• The Son willingly left His throne and came to earth to redeem us. 
• He remained God, but He laid down His divine privileges for our sake. 
• He became human and was born as a baby.
• His name was Jesus. 
• The Incarnation revealed the glory of the Father to a weary world. 
• That is why, when Christ came into the world, he said to God,
  “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings. But you have given me a body to offer.
  Hebrews 10:5
• Jesus was the perfect man, fulfilling God’s perfect plan of redemption.
• The humanity of Christ means that while Jesus is fully God, he is also fully man. 
• The hypostatic union of Christ refers to the union of Jesus’ human and divine nature in one person. 
• The Incarnation shows us the depth of the love of God for us. ‍
