Take Them To The Higher Court

Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.

1 John 3:20

My Takeaways

Something Old

“Sometimes our heart condemns us, but, in doing so, it gives a wrong verdict, and then we have the satisfaction of being able to take the case into a higher court, for ‘God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.’” - Charles Spurgeon

About feelings:

  • Conviction is from God.
  • Condemnation is from Satan.
  • Guilt is from God.
  • Shame is from Satan.

When we sin:

  • Confess the sin.
  • Accept His forgiveness.
  • Move on.

About the feelings that linger:

  • Continue to surrender the feelings to God. (No matter how long it takes)
  • Don’t wallow in or dwell on them.
  • Remember and repeat: “God is bigger than my feelings.”
  • Take them to the higher court.

“God is greater than our heart: for he is the Maker of it, and he has the power over it, and the management of it; it is in his hands, and to be turned by him as he pleases; and he is the searcher and trier of it; and besides, is a swifter witness than conscience, and a superior Judge unto it.” - John Gill

There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:1 (ESV)
