You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
Philippians 2:5
An acceptable attitude is one that is the same as Christ.
- Focus on the greatest and renown of God, not our own. Jesus was God and had all the privileges of the deity, yet did not hold on those rights or his rightness. His actions always put others first and deflected any glory He received to God. God, I’ll live to make Your Name known. (Philippians 2:6)Â
- Serve without seeking attention and gratitude. Jesus took on the nature of a servant. Even though He had power as a leader, He served. He served across cultural, economic, and relational boundaries. God, I’ll serve others without the desire for reciprocation or appreciation. (Philippians 2:7) Â
- Obey God even when the task seems extreme. Jesus gave His physical life in obedience to God. While, in most cases our obedience will not require the giving of our physical life, humility says, God, I’ll obey even if your call to action seems risky. (Philippians 2:8)
Our attitude can determine, or at the very least directs the attitudes of those around us. Therefore, make sure we have an attitude that is worthy of being contagious.Â
When weÂ
- lower ourselves, we lift Him.
- lift Him, others are drawn to Him.
For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.
Philippians 1:21
Paul knew that should he die; he would be in heaven with Christ… better than his current situation. He wasn’t afraid to physically die, in fact, he was ready.
Work hard in cooperation with Holy Spirit to have the same attitude as Christ.
