But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 1:8

A witness:

• to see, hear, or know by personal presence and perception
• to bear witness to; testify to; give or afford evidence of

Greek

• to be a witness for one, serve him by testimony

When we go, and fulfill the Great Commission we can

• be witnesses for Him, testify to what we have seen Him do - sharing our faith
• witness Him, do mighty works and miracles - strengthening our faith

What if I don’t want to go where He wants me to go? Well, what if the place He wants me to go is where we must go, so we: 

• bear witness of what He has done
• be a witness to what He is doing

All of these places must have struck a chord of fear in the hearts of everyone who heard Jesus words:

• Jerusalem: He was killed there by an angry mob.
• Judea: He was rejected there, but had some success.
• Samaria: He ministered there, but the people were regarded as impure.
• Uttermost parts of the earth: He was born to bring salvation to the Jews, so why should the gospel be extended to the Gentiles?

What would my life be like had the disciples not fulfilled the Great Commission?

Whose life has changed because I have been a witness?

Lord, I’m so grateful to the men who sacrificed their life to be your witness. It’s because of their obedience that I am saved.
