Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath.

John 5:9

“A blindness had come over these people at the pool; there they were, and there was Christ, who could heal them, but not a single one of them sought him. Their eyes were fixed on the water, expecting it to be troubled; they were so taken up with their own chosen way that the true way was neglected.” - Charles Spurgeon

Spurgeon suggests this about the waiting season:

• Some wait for a more convenient season.
• Some wait for dreams and visions.
• Some wait for signs and wonders.
• Some wait to be compelled.
• Some wait for a revival.
• Some wait for particular feelings.
• Some wait for a celebrity.

What is the reason I don’t look toward Jesus?

This was not the time Jesus had walked in the city by the Sheep Gate and Pool of Bethesda. Think of the times He walked right by this man. This day was different… This was the day for this man’s waiting season to end. Jesus has a day for your waiting to end. 

Just 

• Look toward Jesus.
• Talk with Jesus.
• Obey Jesus

You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come to me to receive this life.
John 5:39-40

The religious leaders knew the scriptures, yet refused to believe who Jesus was. They valued the scriptures about Jesus more than they valued Jesus. Do I value and know the scriptures about Jesus, more than I value and know Jesus?

Look to, talk with, and obey Jesus while I wait.
