After this interview the wise men went their way. And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was.

About the gifts:

• Gold was a symbol of His royalty.
• Frankincense is a symbol of holiness and divinity. 
• Myrrh was a symbol of bitterness, suffering, and affliction. 

The wise men wanted to see the “king of the Jews,” Jesus. They:

• Persevered in their search.
• Followed the leading of the star.
• Didn’t become discouraged.

“Those who look for Jesus will see him: those who truly see him will worship him: those who worship him will consecrate their substance to him.” - Charles Spurgeon

Do I: 

• Want to see Jesus?
• Persevere in my search?
• Follow every lead?
• Refuse to become discouraged?

Who knew?
Church traditions even tell us their names – supposedly Melchior, Caspar, and Balthasar. You can see their supposed skulls in the great cathedral at Cologne, Germany.

The star actually moved. This just hit me. I’ve always thought the star was in the sky and they walked toward it. I’m amazed.
