And the LORD will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one LORD—his name alone will be worshiped.

Zechariah 14:9

Rejoice, O people of Zion!
Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem!
Look, your king is coming to you.
He is righteous and victorious,
yet he is humble, riding on a donkey—
riding on a donkey’s colt.
Zechariah 9:9

• The exiles have returned. 
• Zechariah is reminded of the past…the unfaithfulness of the people to the covenant. 
• The charge is given: maintain covenant obedience. 
• Zechariah offers hope through the Messiah, the Anointed One, to come. 
• The Messiah’s dominion will be the whole earth. 
• The Messiah will restore God’s people. 
• The Messiah will righteously shepherd His people. 
• The Messiah will be rejected. 
• The Messiah will be pierced and will die. 
• The Messiah will open a fountain through which sin will be cleansed. 
• God will ultimately triumph. 
• The Messiah will come again. 
• We look back to the cross of Christ that bore our sins and paid our debt. 
• We look forward to the second coming of the King. 
• He will conquer. 
• He will make all things new. 
• No longer will His people reject Him. 
• He is the reigning King…forever. 

Pray for “that day” when His feet step on the Mount of Olives…be ready!
