RTW 2024

In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of King Jehoiachin of Judah, Evil-merodach ascended to the Babylonian throne. He was kind to Jehoiachin and released him from prison on April 2 of that year. He spoke kindly to Jehoiachin and gave him a higher place than all the other exiled kings in Babylon. He supplied Jehoiachin with new clothes to replace his prison garb and allowed him to dine in the king’s presence for the rest of his life. So the king gave him a regular food allowance as long as he lived.

2 Kings 25:27-30

Fruit trees of all kinds will grow along both sides of the river. The leaves of these trees will never turn brown and fall, and there will always be fruit on their branches. There will be a new crop every month, for they are watered by the river flowing from the Temple. The fruit will be for food and the leaves for healing.”
Ezekiel 47:12

• Who: Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon; Jehoiachin, King of Judah taken as a captive to Babylon; Zedekiah, puppet king of Judah that rebelled against Babylon; Evil-merodach, son of Nebby K that released Jehoiachin from prison in Babylon.
• Where: Jerusalem in Judah and Babylon on the Euphrates River. 
• When: Zedekiah reigned from 597-586 BC; Jerusalem was destroyed in 586 BC. 
• What: Jehoiachin was released from prison and sat at the king’s table.
• The people of Israel asked for a king like all the others…and they got it. This is where it leads them. 
• They rejected God as their king in exchange for a human king…like all the others. 
• The kings led their nations away from God…like all the others. 
• The book of 2 Kings ends with the people out of the land, without a king…but with hope. 
• God has promised an Eternal King. 
• This King can fix broken governments and resist the sin that so easily corrupted all the other kings. 
• King Jesus is coming. 
• He is the only king His people need. 
• Hope is coming.  

The King is coming again…be ready!!
