Timeless Advice

“‘King Nebuchadnezzar, please accept my advice. Stop sinning and do what is right. Break from your wicked past and be merciful to the poor. Perhaps then you will continue to prosper.’

Daniel 4:27

My Takeaways

Something Old

Warren Wiersbe

The King’s dream accomplished three things:

  • It warned the king that his pride would lead to judgement.
  • It exposed the incompetence of his magicians.
  • It gave Daniel another opportunity to glorify the God of heaven.

Daniel’s advice is still applicable today

  • Stop sinning.
  • Do what is right.
  • Leave your past.
  • Be kind to the poor

Do I have to see or hear a threat before I live rightly with God?

God gave Nebby a year to straighten up
how great is His mercy and grace.

“Nebuchadnezzar was not only counseled to stop sinning, but also to practice righteousness and generosity.” - David Guzik

Something New

I can’t imagine being called the name of a foreign god.

At last Daniel came in before me, and I told him the dream. (He was named Belteshazzar after my god, and the spirit of the holy gods is in him.)
Daniel 4:8

Something To Do

Follow Daniel’s advice to the king.
