“Therefore, tell the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Repent and turn away from your idols, and stop all your detestable sins. I, the LORD, will answer all those, both Israelites and foreigners, who reject me and set up idols in their hearts and so fall into sin, and who then come to a prophet asking for my advice.

Ezekiel 14:6-7

And I will reaffirm my covenant with you, and you will know that I am the LORD. You will remember your sins and cover your mouth in silent shame when I forgive you of all that you have done. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!”
Ezekiel 16:62-63

• We are in the middle of the story of the consequences of idolatry. 
• In Babylon, in exile, the elders have come to Ezekiel. 
• They want to hear from God. 
• God tells Ezekiel to tell them that the problem is the idols of their heart. 
• An idol is anything that you love more than God. 
• We may look at our idols as a “good” thing. 
• They are not. 
• These are the things that make us agree with Satan. Did God really say? 
• The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?” Genesis 3:1
• We will jump over hurdles and through hoops to justify our sin. 
• God is not tricked. 
• God will not be mocked. 
• We must look to God’s Word to pluck idols from our hearts. 
• Acknowledge the idol. 
• Exodus 20:3-6
• Surrender the idol. 
• Colossians 3:5
• Put Jesus first. 
• Colossians 3:1-3
• John 17:3
• As we grow closer to His return, the battle for first place will intensify. 
• He alone is worthy. 

Remove the idols from your heart.
