“Therefore, tell the exiles, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Although I have scattered you in the countries of the world, I will be a sanctuary to you during your time in exile."

Ezekiel 11:16

Do you hear the tenderness of our Heavenly Father? He takes full responsibility and makes no apologies about the exile of the Israelites. Yet, He comforts them with these tender words. Let's read them again. (Read them aloud.)

"I will be a sanctuary to you during your time of exile."

We can count on His 

• divine discipline and often exile.
  For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
  Hebrews 12:11 (ESV)
• irrevocable promise of refuge.
  for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.
  Hebrews 13:5b (ESV)

Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
Psalm 90:1 ESV

In the sanctuary we:

• Pray for ourselves and others
• Worship the Lord
• Repent of sin
• Study the Word

I wonder how God selected who to spare.

But I will spare a few of them from death by war, famine, or disease, so they can confess all their detestable sins to their captors. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”
Ezekiel 12:16
