I warned you when you were prosperous, but you replied, ‘Don’t bother me.’ You have been that way since childhood— you simply will not obey me!

Jeremiah 22:21

What is my response when Holy Spirit taps my heart with a warning?

• I warned you when you were prosperous, but you replied, ‘Don’t bother me.’

Naturally, we don’t verbally say “don’t bother me” however, what we don’t say with our words, we often say with our actions.

Anything but repentance, submission, and obedience is heard as “don’t bother me.”

For a while, things may seem fine on the mount of “don’t bother me,” but it won’t be long until those things that were going fine fall apart and we are faced with the consequences of our own choices.

• It may be nice to live in a beautiful palace paneled with wood from the cedars of Lebanon, but soon you will groan with pangs of anguish— anguish like that of a woman in labor.
  Jeremiah 22:23

God has a history of removing His hand from those He loves when they:

• don’t want to be bossed
• don’t want to be bothered
• don’t want, but desperately need swift and sure correction

It’s time we grow up spiritually. A growing child of God:

• Seeks God daily.
• Walks in His Way.
• Accepts correction without resistance.

Then the officials and the people said to the priests and prophets, “This man does not deserve the death sentence, for he has spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.”
Jeremiah 26:16

The priests and prophets refer to God as “our God”. If they knew God, then why was their response to Him disobedience and idolatry.

Never say with action or words “don’t bother me” to the Lord.
