Scripture:

ISAIAH 24:1-27:13, ISAIAH 29:1-24

What Grace Means

Your kindness to the wicked
does not make them do good.
Although others do right, the wicked keep doing wrong
and take no notice of the LORD’s majesty.
O LORD, they pay no attention to your upraised fist.
Show them your eagerness to defend your people.

Isaiah 26:10-11a

My Takeaways

Something Old

But you are a tower of refuge to the poor, O LORD,
a tower of refuge to the needy in distress.
You are a refuge from the storm
and a shelter from the heat.
For the oppressive acts of ruthless people
are like a storm beating against a wall.
Isaiah 25:4

Something New

  • God continually warns His people about mistreating others, oppressing others, and admonishes us to be humble and teachable.
  • Our first focus is always on us: We can only change us. We need to be open and receptive to hearing God’s voice and guidance.
  • We cannot change other people. Some people do not choose to receive God’s grace. We can love them, but we must be discerning about what our involvement with them looks like, especially if they are continually causing harm without repentance.

Something To Do

Take time to be discerning about our relationships with others.
