Scripture:

PSALM 115, PSALM 116, PSALM 117, PSALM 118

Who Is My Helper And Shield?

All you who fear the LORD, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield.

Psalm 115:11

My Takeaways

Something Old

ĂȘzer (ay'-zer) Helper:

  • one who helps

mĂągĂȘn (maw-gane') Shield:

  • a broad piece of armor, varying widely in form and size, carried apart from the body, usually on the left arm, as a defense against swords, lances, arrows, etc.
  • a person or thing that protects

Who is (are) my helper(s)?
Who or what is my shield?

Yare (yaw-ray') fear

  • reverence

Batach (baw-takh') trust

  • to have confidence, be confident; to be secure

Who do I revere?
In whom or what do I trust?

Something New

Psalms 113 through 118, called the Hallel Psalms were sung at Passover. This means Jesus would have been singing these songs of praise on His way to Gethsemane. Let that sink in.

Something To Do

Make sure God is at the top of my Helper and my Shield list.
