Solomon is nearing the end of his life.
He is seeing things more clearly.
Solomon has knowledge.
Solomon had wisdom.
Solomon had power.
Solomon had prestige.
Solomon had fame.
Solomon had riches.
Solomon had palaces.
Solomon had horses.
Solomon had women.
In Solomon’s search for lasting significance, he finds that he had invested his life in the wrong things.
No matter how wise or rich or successful one may be, life cannot have meaning apart from God.
