The LORD said to Moses, “Give these instructions to the people of Israel: The offerings you present as special gifts are a pleasing aroma to me; they are my food. See to it that they are brought at the appointed times and offered according to my instructions."‍

Numbers 28:1-2

So Moses brought their case before the LORD. And the LORD replied to Moses, “The claim of the daughters of Zelophehad is legitimate. You must give them a grant of land along with their father’s relatives. Assign them the property that would have been given to their father."
Numbers 27:5-7

• “Appointed times” were the holy days, feasts, and festivals that God required the people of Israel to set aside. 
• These times were consecrated to the Lord and were to be observed faithfully throughout the year. 
• God had set the calendar for His people around their commitment to worship. 
• Holy living involved the proper observance of sacred days and annual appointed times. 
• The focus of the gatherings would be on God. 
• The weekly observance was Sabbath (Shabbat).
• The monthly observance was the new moon festival (Rosh Chodesh).
• The spring festivals were the Lord’s Passover (Pesach) and Feast of Unleavened Bread (Chag HaMatzot), Feast of First Fruits and the Feast of Weeks (Shavuot/Pentecost).
• The fall festivals were the Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah), the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), and the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot). 
• The life of God’s people was spent in constant remembrance of Who God is and What He has done. 
• Ultimately, these appointed times found their fulfillment in the life, ministry, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 
• His second coming will complete them all. 
• An understanding of these helps us see a more complete and unified picture of God’s redemptive plan throughout all of Scripture.
