Scripture:

EXODUS 10:1-12:51

In The Meanwhile

On this night the LORD kept his promise to bring his people out of the land of Egypt. So this night belongs to him,‍

Exodus 12:42

My Takeaways

Something Old

The truth for all:

  • We are in the meanwhile of our ultimate rescue from the pains of this world, the pull of sin, and power struggle of flesh and spirit.

The truth for some:

  • Many are in the a meanwhile of a financial setback, emotional impasse, relationship shakeup, health scare, and/or crisis of faith.

But there is a day when God will keep His promise to rescue us… to take us to our heavenly home.

  • For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a mighty shout and with the soul-stirring cry of the archangel and the great trumpet-call of God. And the believers who are dead will be the first to rise to meet the Lord.  Then we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever.
    1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (TLB)

And there is a day when He will rescue you from your current situation. The rescue is certain, but may not come when we want it, how we want it, or with the results we expect. However, God will work it out for your good and His glory.

  • When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.
    Psalm 34:17 (ESV)
  •   And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
    John 8:32 (ESV)
  • Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment,
    2 Peter 2:9 (ESV)

In the meanwhile:

  • And you shall love the Lord your God out of and with your whole heart and out of and with all your soul (your life) and out of and with all your mind (with your faculty of thought and your moral understanding) and out of and with all your strength. This is the first and principal commandment. The second is like it and is this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.
    Mark 12:30-31 (AMPC)

Something New

God told Moses all along what was would happen, and Moses experienced God’s power through obedience. What experience have I missed because I didn’t obey?

Now the LORD had told Moses earlier, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, but then I will do even more mighty miracles in the land of Egypt.”
Exodus 11:9

Something To Do

And you shall love the Lord your God out of and with your whole heart and out of and with all your soul (your life) and out of and with all your mind (with your faculty of thought and your moral understanding) and out of and with all your strength. This is the first and principal commandment. The second is like it and is this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.
