Today's Sponsor of the day is

Scripture:

NUMBERS 7:1-89

Valuable and Practical

Whenever Moses went into the Tabernacle to speak with the LORD, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—that rests on the Ark of the Covenant. The LORD spoke to him from there.

Numbers 7:89

My Takeaways

Something Old

On the day Moses set up the Tabernacle, he anointed it and set it apart as holy. He also anointed and set apart all its furnishings and the altar with its utensils.
Numbers 7:1

Something New

  • Moses anointed the altar, furnishings, utensils: Unclear whether the anointing here was with oil or blood, but most likely oil.
  • Silver plate: 2 silver objects, one almost twice the size of the other, probably weighed about 3 lbs and 1 lb.
  • Fine flour: The grits or semolina left in the sieve after the wheat was ground into flour; also used for grain offerings.
  • Gold dish: Weighted about 4 oz. Incense was very valuable so even a small amount was a substantial gift.
  • Animals for sacrifice.
  • These items were valuable but also practical.
  • What we bring to God is both valuable and practical. Even a very small amount is of great value to Him.

Something to do

Bring all we have and all we are to God (nothing is too small!) and be committed to how He guides our life and our gifts.
