Today's Sponsor of the day is

Scripture:

EXODUS 13:1-15:27

Goodness of God

Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the LORD:

“I will sing to the LORD,
for he has triumphed gloriously;
he has hurled both horse and rider
into the sea.

The LORD is my strength and my song;
he has given me victory.

This is my God, and I will praise him—
my father’s God, and I will exalt him!

The LORD is a warrior;
Yahweh is his name!

Pharaoh’s chariots and army
he has hurled into the sea.

The finest of Pharaoh’s officers
are drowned in the Red Sea.

The deep waters gushed over them;
they sank to the bottom like a stone.

Exodus 15:1-5

My Takeaways

Something Old

“This is a day to remember. Each year, from generation to generation, you must celebrate it as a special festival to the LORD. This is a law for all time. For seven days the bread you eat must be made without yeast. On the first day of the festival, remove every trace of yeast from your homes. Anyone who eats bread made with yeast during the seven days of the festival will be cut off from the community of Israel. On the first day of the festival and again on the seventh day, all the people must observe an official day for holy assembly. No work of any kind may be done on these days except in the preparation of food.
Exodus 12:14-16

Something New

  • Three songs of Moses appear in the Old Testament.
  • The other two are found in Deuteronomy 32 and Psalm 90.
  • A song of Moses is in the New Testament in Revelation 15:3-4, which will be sung in heaven.
  • This song in Exodus 15 is one of praise and celebration.
  • It celebrates God’s delivery of His people from the army of Pharoah which God caused to be swallowed up in the Red Sea.
  • It was sung by Moses and all the people of Israel.
  • Moses praises God for being gloriously triumphant.
  • It prefigures the praise in Revelation 15:3-4 for the victory of the Lamb over all that is evil.
  • Moses declares the uniqueness of God.
  • Moses declares the unequaled power of God.
  • Moses declares the majestic holiness of the one true God.
  • Just as the waters swallowed up the Egyptian army, the resurrection of Jesus has caused death to be swallowed up in victory.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:54-57
  • Moses proclaims that God led His people in love to their redemption and this is true of our own salvation.
  • Romans 2:4
  • Praise and worship of God is a powerful force which can be used by God to mature us as believers and make us more Christlike.
  • Goodness of God
