If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.
James 3:13
The World’s wisdom:
A living by the World’s Wisdom is not honorable to God or others, sows and reaps a harvest of strife and trouble.
God’s wisdom is:
A life living by God’s Wisdom is honorable, produces good things, and reaps a harvest of righteousness.
What kind of life do I desire to live? What kind of life am I living?
I love noticing things in scripture that I’ve never noticed before. James mentions the twelve tribes.
This letter is from James, a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I am writing to the “twelve tribes”—Jewish believers scattered abroad.
James 1:1
It’s likely he wasn’t referring to tribes as we know them, but it's interesting he used the words “twelve tribes.” This is what David Guzik and Enduringword says:
"The twelve tribes is a Jewish figure of speech that sometimes referred to the Jewish people as a whole (Matthew 19:28). Paul referred to our twelve tribes in his speech before King Agrippa (Acts 26:7). The concept of the “twelve tribes” among the Jewish people was still strong, even though they had not lived in their tribal allotments for centuries."
Which wisdom most dominates my life?
