His Image

Jesus saw through their hypocrisy and said, “Why are you trying to trap me? Show me a Roman coin, and I’ll tell you.” When they handed it to him, he asked, “Whose picture and title are stamped on it?”

“Caesar’s,” they replied.

“Well, then,” Jesus said, “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.”

His reply completely amazed them.

My Takeaways

Something Old

I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit. Anyone who stumbles over that stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on.

Something New

The unasked question: Whose image is imprinted on you?
When God decided to set up His image, He didn’t do it by carving statues.
God formed living, breathing humans.
God wanted His creation to reflect His image.
Romans 8:29
God aims to restore us to the place where we can bear His image righteously, wisely, lovingly, and mercifully.
To find our identity in Christ is to believe God’s Word.
We are who He says we are.
Live in the Truth of the Word.
