It was now winter, and Jesus was in Jerusalem at the time of Hanukkah, the Festival of Dedication. He was in the Temple, walking through the section known as Solomon’s Colonnade.

• Jesus was in Jerusalem, at the Temple during the Feast of Dedication. 
• Begins on the evening of Kislev 25 and continues for eight days.

• We see the miracle of the oil also in 1 Kings 17:12-16 and 2 Kings 4:1-7. 
• The Festival of Lights was celebrated from the time of the Maccabees up to when the Temple was destroyed by the Romans in AD 70. 
• Hanukkah is a holiday of thanksgiving that focuses on God’s miraculous light. 
• The miracles of physical deliverance and sustaining power by God caused the Maccabees to glorify God and proclaim an annual commemorative festival, but it did not end with the Maccabees. 
• Christians should be “living menorahs.” Matthew 5:16
