At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him.

John 6:66

When the going gets tough… often people turn and leave.

Many stuck with Jesus when they: 

• Witnessed His power
• Received His blessing
• Understood His teaching
• Enjoy His presence

Now Jesus challenged authority, seemed to buck the system, and did things they didn’t understand, so they left. 

• How short-lived is my faith?
• Am I a fair-weathered follower of Jesus?

When following Jesus, in right relationship we do

• Witness His power
• Receive His blessing
• Understand His teaching
• Enjoy His presence

When we follow Jesus, we must never forget we follow Him to the cross…

• The death of our life.
• The death of our dreams.
• The death of our will.

There is nothing fair-weathered about following Jesus, but there is something eternal about following Jesus.

They can leave us with a heart that is shriveled, instead of one expanded in the love of Christ. There can be a lost loveliness in life--God saves us from that!” - William Barclay

Why do I want to be with Jesus?

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs.”
John 6:26

Don’t forget the cross leads me to Jesus.
