Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:7

Jesus has just talked about prayer, and now is talking about prayer again.

“Ask with confidence and humility. Seek with care and application. Knock with earnestness and perseverance.” - Adam Clarke

Ask: with confidence and humility, ready to lay it all out and know He’s got it

• Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
  Hebrews 4:16 (ESV)

Seek: with care and application, ready to obey and apply what He reveals

• But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
  Matthew 6:33 (ESV)

Knock: with earnestness and perseverance, ready and willing to keep asking

• Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! 
  1 Chronicles 16:11 (ESV)

The results of the A.S.K. prayer formula, the one who: 

• Asks, receives.
• Seeks, finds.
• Knocks, has an open door.

Jesus doesn’t say that everyone receives what they ask for; He says everyone receives. When we are in right relationship with God, we trust He knows what we need to receive.

Follow the prayer formula and trust God to give me what I need to receive, lead me to what I need to find, and open the door I need to walk through.
