Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write an accurate account for you, most honorable Theophilus, so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.

Luke 1:3-4

Luke

• Wrote Luke and Acts.
• Was not a disciple.
• Was a physician.
• The only gospel writer who narrates the complete life of Christ.
• Luke was not one of those who was an eyewitness of events from the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, so he wants to make certain that everyone know that he has done his research.

It seemed good and desirable to me, [and so I have determined] also after having searched out diligently and followed all things closely and traced accurately the course from the highest to the minutest detail from the very first, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus
Luke 1:3 (AMPC)

Luke was like a Biblical investigative reporter who didn’t: 

• just take others at their word, even if you know them.
• believe everything he heard. 
• underestimate the influence of others.

Luke was willing to investigate for himself everything he had heard. Luke studied Jesus, and so should we.

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
John 14:6

What did Zechariah know of Holy Spirit? I wonder if he had had any encounters with Him or had only heard of the Spirit hovering over the mercy seat.

He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even before his birth.
