So, on October 8 Ezra the priest brought the Book of the Law before the assembly, which included the men and women and all the children old enough to understand.
Nehemiah 8:2
J. Edwin Orr defined revival as: “The Spirit of God working through the Word of God, in the lives of the people of God.”
For a personal revival to take place:
We must truly want revival.
We must be willing to make sacrifices.
We must be willing to make practical arrangements.
We must be willing to humble ourselves.
We must be willing to demonstrate respect for His Word.
We must be willing to give ourselves over to worship.
Evidence of the beginning of a personal revival: You are stirred to read, study, and obey the Word. Oh, and there will be joy, so much joy.
Revival started after the first Bible study,Â
So, the people went away to eat and drink at a festive meal, to share gifts of food, and to celebrate with great joy because they had heard God’s words and understood them.
Nehemiah 8:12
They gathered to hear The Book of the Law: (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) The book taught them how to walk in right relationship with God.
God is an idea giver!
So, my God gave me the idea to call together all the nobles and leaders of the city, along with the ordinary citizens, for registration. I had found the genealogical record of those who had first returned to Judah.
Nehemiah 7:5
Oh, I would love to live in a constant state of the joy of personal revival. Give me the desire to make the sacrifices necessary to experience You.Â
