This was because Ezra had determined to study and obey the Law of the LORD and to teach those decrees and regulations to the people of Israel.

Ezra 7:10

This Ezra was a scribe who was well versed in the Law of Moses, which the LORD , the God of Israel, had given to the people of Israel. He came up to Jerusalem from Babylon, and the king gave him everything he asked for, because the gracious hand of the LORD his God was on him. 
Ezra 7:6

• This verse is a great summary of what it means to be a faithful servant of God’s Word. 
• Study the Word: start with studying…and never stop. 
• “But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night.”
  Psalm 1:2
• Live the Word: The only true theology is applied theology.
• “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
  Romans 12:2
• Teach the Word: Study is not to puff us up, but for the edification of the Church. 
• Ezra did not begin as a teacher…he became one. 

Set your heart to study the Word of God, and to do it, and to teach it to wherever God calls you.
