Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.

Warren Wiersbe refers to this portion of Daniel’s story as a “work crisis.” Daniel was about to get a huge promotion and the work staff didn’t like that.

Daniel continues to amaze me. 

When he learned that the law had been signed, we don’t see him asking the:

• king to change the law
• criticizing the those who coerced the king to sign the law
• defend himself to the king

When he learned that the law had been signed, we see him:

• Go to his usual place.
• Doing what he has always done.

Daniel

• Remained humble before the Lord.
• Gave thanks to God for all He had done.
• Asking God for help.
• Stood firm on his conviction.
• Trusted God for the outcome.

Defining moments don’t determine who I am, they reveal what I’ve become.

Daniel read Jeremiah’s prophecy.

In the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the LORD through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
