Scripture:

PSALM 50, PSALM 73-74

The Strength of My Heart

Then I realized that my heart was bitter,
and I was all torn up inside.
I was so foolish and ignorant—
I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you.
Yet I still belong to you;
you hold my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
leading me to a glorious destiny.
Whom have I in heaven but you?
I desire you more than anything on earth.
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
but God remains the strength of my heart;
He is mine forever.

Psalm 73:21-26

My Takeaways

Something Old

The LORD, the Mighty One, is God,
and he has spoken;
he has summoned all humanity
from where the sun rises to where it sets.

Psalm 50:1

Something New

  • We live in a time of waiting.
  • We wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • There are times when we look at this world and the people that live in open rebellion to God and we envy them.
  • We look at how the world lives and think how easy it would be to live like that.
  • We are tempted to step onto the broad path.
  • We forget that our God is good.
  • We are prone to wander.
  • Asaph was the same.
  • Asaph looked at how the world around him lived.
  • In Asaph’s eyes, they seemed blessed.
  • They had prosperity.
  • They had “no pangs until death.”
  • They lived a life of plenty.
  • They were not stricken.
  • They were always at ease.
  • They enjoyed the good life.
  • Asaph thought his life of holiness was in vain.
  • Do we do the same?
  • Asaph admitted he was foolish towards God.
  • Asaph remembered and believed.
  • Asaph was reminded that God is good.
  • God has forgiven you.
  • God has given you eternal life.
  • God has given you a place in His Kingdom.
  • God is good.
  • Don’t forget.
