Then the cloud covered the Tabernacle, and the glory of the LORD filled the Tabernacle. Moses could no longer enter the Tabernacle because the cloud had settled down over it, and the glory of the LORD filled the Tabernacle.

Now whenever the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out on their journey, following it. But if the cloud did not rise, they remained where they were until it lifted. The cloud of the LORD hovered over the Tabernacle during the day, and at night fire glowed inside the cloud so the whole family of Israel could see it. This continued throughout all their journeys.‍

Exodus 40:34-37

Moses proceeded to do everything just as the LORD had commanded him. So the Tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month of the second year.
Exodus 40:16-17

• Moses has led Israel out of Egypt. 
• Moses met with God on the mountain and renewed the covenant and was given the blueprints for the Tabernacle. 
• The Tabernacle is built…God can now be with His people!
• Moses cannot enter. 
• The Tabernacle was a step forward towards communion between God and man. 
• It did not go far enough. 
• Sin had not yet been atoned for. 
• God is with His people. 
• But His people do not have access to Him. 
• How are they going to live with God in their midst if even Moses cannot come in? 
• God will now teach His people how to make atonement for sin. 
• God is with His people. 
• They are still sinners. 
• God is still holy. 
• Sin must be dealt with. 
• Because God loves His people, He gives them grace. 
• He will teach them about holiness. 
• He does that in Leviticus.
