Then Moses called together the whole community of Israel and told them, “These are the instructions the LORD has commanded you to follow. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day must be a Sabbath day of complete rest, a holy day dedicated to the LORD. Anyone who works on that day must be put to death. You must not even light a fire in any of your homes on the Sabbath.”‍

Exodus 35:1-3

“The LORD has gifted Bezalel, Oholiab, and the other skilled craftsmen with wisdom and ability to perform any task involved in building the sanctuary. Let them construct and furnish the Tabernacle, just as the LORD has commanded.”‍

Exodus 36:1

• We have all been given tasks by God to complete since Adam and Eve were tasked with working to tend and guard the Garden of Eden. Genesis 2:15
• This was before sin entered the world. 
• Work was meant for us to enjoy as a blessing from God. 
• If we look at the creation account, we will see that man was created on day six of creation. 
• Man’s first full day of life was a day of rest. 
• The purpose of the day of rest was for us to realize our whole dependence on God. 
• A day of rest meant to focus us on abiding with God. 
• God is sovereign over all of my days. 
• The fact He is in control and I am able to wait and walk with Him is the basis for rest. 
• Establishing a discipline of resting from activity enables us to hear from God, to receive guidance and strength, and to focus on my relationship with Him. 
• Our work flows from our worship. 
• We do not rest from work. 
• We work from our rest. 
• The rhythms of our lives are to be set by our rest in Him.
