“Have the people of Israel build me a holy sanctuary so I can live among them. You must build this Tabernacle and its furnishings exactly according to the pattern I will show you."‍

Exodus 25:8-9

• God’s desire to be near His people is central to the metanarrative of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. 
• God gave His people the design for a space where He could dwell with them. 
• The word tabernacle means “dwelling place”.
• The Tabernacle was a portable sanctuary that had two purposes: It allowed God’s people to draw near and worship Him, and it clarified and established the magnitude of God’s holiness. 
• God is God. 
• He is transcendent. 
• He is outside of His creation. 
• He is separate; holy. 
• In order to draw near and worship Him, His people must recognize that God is God and He is Holy. 
• The Tabernacle provides a visual image of God’s holiness and His love for His people. 
• The Tabernacle is a prophetic picture of how Christ’s redemptive work makes fellowship with God possible. 
• And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth. John 1:14 (AMPC)

Realize as we continue to read through the Bible, that the essence of the new covenant is that, in and through it, the Lord Jesus brings us into the immediate presence of God and always keeps us there! We no longer have to come to the gate of the Tabernacle. We have been brought into the Holy of Holies!
