Scripture:

GENESIS 25:27-28:5

When The Enemy Covers Your Well

He reopened the wells his father had dug, which the Philistines had filled in after Abraham’s death. Isaac also restored the names Abraham had given them.
Genesis 26:18

My Takeaways

Something Old

I love NJKV… “And Isaac dug again the wells of water…”

Sometimes we have dig again, again, and again until we get the water.

When the enemy covers your well… your source of spiritual nourishment:

  • You may have to go back to draw water of spiritual nourishment either from wells of your own digging, or those who dug wells before you.
  • Isaac went back to the same resources that had sustained his father and all he possessed. Sometimes we have to go back in order to maintain, regain, and move forward.
  • “We might say that the wells of peace, of power, of grace, of wisdom, of transformation are all available for the believer today as they were for previous generations. The question is whether a present generation will have the faith, the work, and the commitment to dig the wells again.” – Enduringword.org
  • If you don’t have wells of faith to go back to, be the one to dig the wells for those who come after you. They may need to come back to your wells when the enemy attempts cover their wells.
  • Keep digging until you get to the water.

Something New

They replied, “We can plainly see that the LORD is with you. So, we want to enter into a sworn treaty with you. Let’s make a covenant.
Genesis 26:28

About this time, Abimelech came with Phicol, his army commander, to visit Abraham. “God is obviously with you, helping you in everything you do,” Abimelech said.
Genesis 21:22

The same words were said of Abraham. Oh, how I pray others can see that the Lord is with me.

Something To Do

There’s no shame in going back and digging.
