The people who lived in this region were the Hittites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.) These are the kings Israel defeated:

My Takeaways

Something Old

Moses did not assign any allotment of land to the tribe of Levi. Instead, as the LORD had promised them, their allotment came from the offerings burned on the altar to the Lord, the God of Israel.
Joshua 13:14

Something New

  • Joshua 12 begins with a record of the faithfulness of God to Moses and Israel.
  • Moses and the Israelites conquered the land from the Valley of Amon to Mount Hermon.
  • Moses defeated King Sihon and King Og, who ruled from Bashan to Moab.
  • Moses gave the land east of the Jordan River to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh.
  • God continues His faithfulness to Joshua and Israel.
  • Joshua is given victory over the kings who lived west of the Jordan River.
  • God gives the land to Israel…just as He promised over 500 years ago.
  • A list of 31 kings defeated by Joshua and the army of men with no military training relying on the promise of God.
  • The Bible is a record of God and His actions with His people.
  • God’s promises can always be trusted.
  • Goodness of God

Something to do

Remember that the most important thing to learn is the character of God.
