Trust and Obey

Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid or discouraged. Take all your fighting men and attack Ai, for I have given you the king of Ai, his people, his town, and his land. You will destroy them as you destroyed Jericho and its king. But this time you may keep the plunder and the livestock for yourselves. Set an ambush behind the town.”

Joshua 8:1-2

My Takeaways

Something Old

So the Israelites examined their food, but they did not consult the LORD.
Joshua 9:14

Something New

  • Sin had been dealt with by God.
  • Israel did not have to worry about the outcome of their battle.
  • The victory over Ai has been promised.
  • God gives words of strength and encouragement as a reminder that they trust in Him.
  • When Israel followed God, they won in every battle.
  • God’s promises of provision and protection are not unique to Israel.
  • We need these promises throughout Scripture.
  • God’s words give strength and encouragement to believers today.
  • Romans 15:4
  • 2 Corinthians 1:3
  • The battle plan is the same: obedience.
  • John 14:15, 21
  • John 15:10
  • 1 John 5:3
  • 2 John 1:6
  • Trust and obey was the plan for Israel.
  • Trust and obey is still the plan today.
  • Trust and Obey: Don Moen
