Have you no fear of God, no reverence for Him?
Job 15:4
- Indeed, you are doing away with [reverential] fear, and you are hindering and diminishing meditation and devotion before God.
Amplified Bible Classic (AMPC)
- Yes, you cast off fear, and restrain prayer before God.
New King James Version (NKJV)
Restrain: to hold back from action; keep in check or under control
Some people do restrain prayer before God. Spurgeon considered ways that some do this.
Some restrain prayer before God because they:
- do not pray often or regularly.
- do not prepare their hearts properly to pray.Â
- do not consider who they are praying to, the way their prayer should be made, that they are sinners, what they should ask of God, and thankful for what He has done in the past.
- pray in such a formal, strict manner that they never really pour out their heart before God.
- pray with little faith and much unbelief.

Your own mouth condemns you, not I. Your own lips testify against you.
Job 15:6
Do I testify against and condemn myself?
Don’t hold anything back from God. Lay it all out there.
