Scripture:

DANIEL 6:1-28, DANIEL 9:1-27, 2 CHRONICLES 36:22-23, EZRA 1:1-11, 1 CHRONICLES 3:17-19

The Living God

Then King Darius sent this message to the people of every race and nation and language throughout the world: “Peace and prosperity to you!“I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble with fear before the God of Daniel. For he is the living God, and he will endure forever. His kingdom will never be destroyed, and his rule will never end. He rescues and saves his people; he performs miraculous signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

Daniel 6:25-28

My Take Aways

Something Old

So at last the king gave orders for Daniel to be arrested and thrown into the den of lions. The king said to him, “May your God, whom you serve so faithfully, rescue you.”

Daniel 6:16

Something New

  • Daniel has been placed by God in the court of pagan kings.
  • Throughout the book of Daniel there is a strong contrast between the gods of these kings and the God of heaven and earth.
  • His enemies have tried to use Daniel’s faith in God as a way to destroy him.
  • Each plot against Daniel is used by God to move Daniel higher up as a leader.
  • Daniel did not flaunt the king’s command.
  • Daniel did not hide his normal practices.
  • Daniel is a model of faith, not of hostile defiance.
  • The king could not deliver Daniel.
  • God’s greater purposes would be served by Daniel in the den of lions.
  • God was glorified through it all.
  • King Darius demanded that all his kingdom fear and tremble before the God of Daniel.
  • Daniel’s quiet consistent faith had impact throughout the kingdom.
  • Daniel trusted in God, not the power of the earthly realm.
  • Daniel risked his life for his faith.
  • Daniel’s faith turned the heads of multiple pagan kings.

Something To Do

Live the faith that Daniel lived. We cannot defeat the enemy by using the enemy’s tactics. God is in control and our faith is in Him.
