Scripture:

MALACHI 2:10-4:6, JOEL 1:1-3:21

More Than Words

That is why the LORD says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.”

Joel 2:12

My Take Aways

Something Old

Love this! Old Testament and New Testament… same word.

  • But everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved,
    Joel 2:32a
  • For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”
    Romans 10:13

Real repentance is more than words.

Sincere repentance is:

  • to turn to God, and therefore away from our sin.
  • done with all your heart, giving everything, you can in surrender to God.
  • is marked by action (with fasting) and emotion (with weeping…mourning). Not every act of repentance will include fasting and weeping, but if action and emotionare absent, it isn’t real repentance.

Return to the LORD your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
Joel 2:13b

Great article on Repentance

Something New

I’m noticing a theme… women leading the men to sin by worshiping idols. The Jezebel spirit.

Judah has been unfaithful, and a detestable thing has been done in Israel and in Jerusalem. The men of Judah have defiled the LORD’s beloved sanctuary by marrying women who worship idols.
Malachi 2:11

Something To Do

Sincere repentance is more than words. Offer God sincere repentance always.
