The Temple was finally finished, as had been commanded by the God of Israel and decreed by Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes, the kings of Persia. The Temple was completed on March 12, during the sixth year of King Darius’s reign.

Ezra 6:14b-15

These events happened in the days of King Xerxes, who reigned over 127 provinces stretching from India to Ethiopia. At that time Xerxes ruled his empire from his royal throne at the fortress of Susa.

Esther 1:1-2

• The time has come for the Temple to be completed.
• God has worked through multiple kings and empires to bring about His will.
• The Bible records the empires throughout history that God has used to bring forth His plan.
• At this point in our reading, and in history, He has brought forth the Persian Empire to be in control.
• Next on His plan will be the Greeks and Romans.
• God is bringing “the fullness of time” for Messiah to come.
• Since the end of the canon of Scripture, God has used His Word to impact the world.
• He is not done.
• He is marching forth in History( His Story) to bring forth His plan.
• Knowing history is to watch the hand of God at work in the world.
• He continues to work.
• One day every knee will bow and see that He is the King of the World.

Look to the King of the World. He has a plan. He has a purpose for your life. He knows what He is doing to bring about His decrees!
