Zechariah 9:9

God created us with inherent value and worth. Our obedience or disobedience can affect our connection with God, but it does not change our value.On that day the LORD their God will rescue his people,just as a shepherd rescues his sheep.They will sparkle in his landlike jewels in a crown.

Zechariah 9:16

• Zechariah 9:9 and Zechariah 10:4 are considered Messianic verses.
• Zechariah 9:13 and Zechariah 10:5 were partially fulfilled prophecies during the second century B.C. during the Maccabean revolt.
• The palm branches waved during Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) carried evolving meanings throughout Jewish history.
• The Maccabean revolt against Antiochus IV began in 167 BC. The Maccabees were victorious, cleansed the temple (dismantled the altar) and rededicated the temple, an event celebrated as Hanukkah. Waving the palm branches during Sukkot took on a meaning of political victory.
