Scripture:

JEREMIAH 32:1-33:26, EZEKIEL 26:1-14

The LORD Is Our Righteousness

“In those days and at that timeI will raise up a righteous descendant from King David’s line.He will do what is just and right throughout the land.In that day Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will live in safety. And this will be its name:‘The LORD is Our Righteousness.’“

Jeremiah 33:15-16

My Take Aways

Something Old

At that time the LORD sent me a message. He said, “Your cousin Hanamel son of Shallum will come and say to you, ‘Buy my field at Anathoth. By law you have the right to buy it before it is offered to anyone else.’”

Jeremiah 32:6-7

Something New

  • Righteousness is one of those words we like to use in the Church and never define.
  • Righteousness involves being in a right relationship or right standing with God.
  • Righteousness is conforming to His character.
  • Righteousness is possible for us to achieve.
  • Righteousness comes as God’s gift to us through faith in His Son.
  • He has intervened on our behalf to restore us to His likeness, and to fellowship with us.
  • Yahweh Tsidqenu
  • Tsedeq: righteous; honest; right; just; truth; integrity.
  • Our goal is not to just do what God says.
  • Our goal is to become like Him.
  • Jeremiah prophesied about the coming of a King, who would be called “The LORD Our Righteousness.”
  • Romans 3:21-25a

Something To Do

Consider daily what it means in my life to become more and more like Jesus.
