You are proud of your fertile valleys, but they will soon be ruined. You trusted in your wealth, you rebellious daughter, and thought no one could ever harm you.
Jeremiah 49:4
Sometimes we can learn just as much from the enemies of the Lord, that we can from the children of the Lord?
Pay attention and guard my faith.
- In what or who am I proud of? What I am proud of can/could be my ruin.
- In what or who have I placed my trust? What I trust in, can bring ruin to me.
Pay MUST attention.
- The enemy WILL NOT STOP trying to deceive, distract, and distance us from God.
- We CAN NOT ever think that no one will ever harm us.
- We CAN NOT trust in our wealth, health and prosperity.
Safeguarding our faith consists of a continuous commitment to:
- Fellowship with the brethren
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Hebrews 10:24-25 - Accountability with a few
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:1-2 (ESV) - Intimacy with God everyday
Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:19-22 (ESV) - Commitment to time in the Word
Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
Romans 12:2 (AMPC)
Fellowship, accountability, intimacy, and commitment are the ways to safeguard our faith against the non-stop efforts of our enemy.
Why would God restore the fortune of the enemy?
“But I will restore the fortunes of the Ammonite in days to come. I, the LORD, have spoken.”
Jeremiah 49:6
Pay attention Wendy. Guard your faith. You have an enemy who hates you. He can’t steal your salvation, but he can steal your joy by distracting you from God.
