• Proverbs 31 can bring up a variety of ideas or feelings.
• Our misinterpretation of the passage can be corrected through simple hermeneutics.
• Biblical hermeneutics is the branch of knowledge that deals with interpretation. The word most often refers to how to interpret the Bible.
• We must understand the genre.
• Proverbs 31 is an acrostic poem.
• The poem shows us what wisdom looks like in action.
• It is not a prescriptive checklist.
• We must understand the audience.
• The audience is a man, as his mother teaches him about a noble wife.
• We must understand the language.
• Eshet chayil is a 22-verse poem found in proverbs 31, verses 10-31. This prayer is traditionally read before the Kiddush wine blessing as families welcome in Shabbat on Friday evening.
