They tell the seers, “Stop seeing visions!”They tell the prophets, “Don’t tell us what is right. Tell us nice things. Tell us lies.”

Isaiah 30:10

The only One who would never let them down, or abandon them was Yahweh. The same for them then is the same for us now. The only One who will never let us down or abandon us is Yahweh.

We put our trust in the wrong people, places and things. We trust the promises that are made. We will be let down and the promises will be broken.

Sometimes because:

• Well, they are human, and those we love will let us down and break promises.

But sometimes people let us down and break promises because we:

• trusted the wrong people, and avoided the warning signs.
• believed a promise we that was too good to be true, and down deep we knew it.
• didn’t believe God enough to keep His promise.

Regardless of how it happened this truth remains:

• God is always trustworthy.
• God will always forgive and not condemn.
• God will always redeem what we compromised and lost.
• God will always work everything out for our good, when we love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Topheth—the place of burning— has long been ready for the Assyrian king; the pyre is piled high with wood. The breath of the Lord, like fire from a volcano, will set it ablaze.

For Tophet was established of old, yes for the king it is prepared: Tophet was a place in the Valley of Hinnom, just outside of Jerusalem’s walls (Jeremiah 7:31). The Valley of Hinnom served as Jerusalem’s garbage dump, and the combination of disgusting rubbish and smoldering fires made it a picture of hell. The Hebrew word for hell (gehenna) comes from the word for the Valley of Hinnom. Therefore, God says He has a special place in hell for the Assyrian king.
